Summary of Research

Osteoporosis or accelerated bone loss costs the NHS about £200 million each year for surgery and post-operative care following serious fractures. The technology for measuring bone calcium is developing rapidly and the aim of this study was to establish confidence levels in the available technology, and to establish limitations of the in vivo bone densitometry (absorptiometry).
